Our Analysis & Ratings
The Hi-Gear 5 Metre is a very classic polycotton bell tent with good ventilation and the ability to use a stove. The choice to use polycotton over canvas makes it a little lighter while still staying breathable and more durable than a polyester tent.
Comfort - With a large living space and 3m height, this is definitely a comfortable tent. We liked the three ventilation points around the base, as well as the roof aperture should you wish to use an internal stove - would've been great to be able to control the roof ventilation as you can in some other tents.
Construction - It's a well-constructed tent - no issues with the durability of fabrics, zips, guy lines etc.
Features - It has the aforementioned ventilation and stove aperture, as well as zip-off ground sheet and an internal point to hang your lantern, but otherwise is relatively lightly featured. Some ports to run power for a full glamping setup would've been great.
Size/ Weight - Being polycotton, this is slightly lighter than a comparable canvas tent of this size, but not as light as a more highly-engineered, expensive tent. However, for the price, it's a good option, and we like that it comes with a wheeled bag, which just makes it that much easier if you have a little way to walk from car to campsite.
Versatility - With a 10 minute setup time and being by no means light, we'd see this tent as being great if you intend on doing longer stays.
Overall - An excellent traditional polycotton option at a great price.
