Our Analysis & Ratings
This 3-season tent is designed to be lightweight and spacious, fit for 2 people. It features a visor for increased ventilation and two doors. The Kelty All Inn 2 sets up and packs down easily with outward leaning walls that give extra headroom. However, there are also some pretty clear negatives, including an asymmetrical living space, only one vestibule, and a whopping 4-pole setup.
Comfort - Its large zip open mesh window on the front provides for great ventilation. The vertical walls definitely add a bigger interior space, however we’re not a fan of how the tent narrows at the bottom end - we found we were playing footsies all night.
Construction - The tent is constructed of very lightweight 15D Polyester/No-see-um mesh, and Floor/Fly is 40D Siliconized Nylon Ripstop/1500mm. These materials mean the tent is lighter in weight, but are definitely not particularly durable and we have concerns that the tent wouldn’t hold up to getting snagged or scratched, or if there was a significant amount of rainfall. There are also four poles, three of which traverse the central pole. This is responsible for creating greater internal space, but we’ve seen it done with fewer poles and less setup hassle on many other tents.
Features - The mesh sides are great for warmer weather, but apart from that we felt let down by the features - only a single vestibule, and yes there are two doors that are perpendicular to one another, but we didn’t particularly see the advantage of that compared with doors opposite one another.
Size/Weight - At 1.6kg, this tent is lightweight and easy to pack. Its packable size and weight are pretty good for the price, but there have been sacrifices made in materials, durability and internal space to achieve this.
Versatility - It’s a good tent for drier summer camping, but we’re not convinced about it in the rain. It certainly wouldn’t stand up to winter camping or mountaineering.
Overall - It’s really good value for the price, but if you have more to spend we’d suggest looking elsewhere.
