Our Analysis & Ratings

The Sea Eagle 330 kayak is a great kayak for families to have fun on the water, especially if you’re not wanting to spend a lot of money. It’s quite a bit shorter than other tandem kayaks on the market, as well as pretty narrow — even more so with the rows of air tubes surrounding you — but it’s great fun for the kids to paddle around in.

Performance - The kayak tracks decently but it's not wind resistant so you're easily blown off course. It also has limited space for storage. The seats don't provide much resistance to push against and paddle effectively, but it manoeuvres well around corners. While the Sea Eagle 330 is tall and allows you to sit high on the water, it’s a bit too buoyant and can be unstable — plus it can be a pain to get into if you fall out.

Construction - The Sea Eagle 330 kayak is made of 33ml Polykrylar (K80 PVC) with an inflatable 5-tube L-beam construction floor. The thick, plastic, canvas-like waterproof material has quite a spongy, inflatable feel to it, even though it's higher-quality than some other cheap kayaks. It also has inflatable spray skirts and 2 skegs for tracking.

Setup/Pack down - The 330 inflates and deflates easily, however, with inflatable spray skirts and seats, there are a few too many inflation points for us, even though at 1.1psi you’re only going for a very low pressure.

Portability - Unlike some other inflatable tandems, nothing beats the portability of the Sea Eagle 330. It's lightweight and packable, and you can even take a short hike carrying it. It comes in a duffel-type bag with straps for easy carrying. The shape can be a bit awkward to carry though, then to stash in a car or cupboard.

Comfort - Although it accommodates up to 230kg, the kayak is very small to fit two adults, so it's more suitable for an adult/child combination. The seats are also not comfortable on long trips. Not the best tandem kayak for taller paddlers as it’s so high and wobbly in rough waters.

Overall - The Sea Eagle 330 is a recreational kayak for flat water and for kids to enjoy themselves in, however, it’s a far cry from a high-performance kayak.
