Our Analysis & Ratings

The Tribord 2-Person 100+ (previously sold as the Itiwit X100) is an inflatable kayak designed for casual paddlers who value stability and portability above all else. At first glance, it’s lightweight, easy to set up and compact enough to carry around in its backpack. On the water, it delivers great stability but trades off speed and tracking and space gets tight if two adults paddle together. After spending time with it, we’d say it suits solo use or occasional tandem outings best, especially for calm rivers and lakes where performance isn’t the main concern.

Performance - The wide hull and drop-stitch floor give the kayak a rock-solid base. We never felt like it was going to tip, even when shifting around or standing briefly. That stability does come at the cost of glide and straight-line tracking. Despite the three small skegs, the kayak drifts off course more than we’d like, and it doesn’t build much speed. This isn’t a boat for long-distance paddling or battling headwinds. It’s made for leisurely sessions, such as a relaxed paddle across a lake, a gentle trip down a slow river, or even as a swim platform on a hot day.

Construction - Compared to earlier Itiwit versions, the updated Tribord model feels tougher thanks to improved materials and glue. The drop-stitch floor inflates to a high pressure, making it firm and rigid underfoot, while the PVC side pontoons are solid enough for light bumps. Unlike some kayaks with canvas skins that take forever to dry, this one dries more quickly, which is a huge practical bonus. On the flip side, because the Tribord 2-Person 100+ is built as one piece, you can’t swap out individual sections if they get damaged, so repairs will need to be done with a kit.

Setup/Pack Down - This is one of the most user-friendly inflatables we’ve come across. The valves are clear and well-positioned and inflating it takes less than 10 minutes with a decent pump. We like that the instructions are printed inside the carry bag, so there’s no need to dig out a manual. Deflating and folding it back down isn’t hard, though getting everything neatly back in the backpack does take a bit of practice. One frustration: the kayak doesn’t come with a pump, paddles, or a repair kit, which adds to the overall cost.

Portability - At around 16kg, the Tribord 2-Person 100+ is manageable to carry solo and the backpack is well designed with proper straps and side pockets for paddles. It’s compact enough to fit in a car boot without any hassle, which is really the appeal here, as you don’t need roof racks or a garage. It’s the kind of kayak you can throw in the backseat, head out for the afternoon and be on the water quickly without much planning.

Comfort - The raised inflatable seats are adjustable and supportive and the higher seating position helps keep you dry. For short trips, they’re more than enough. The trouble is space: with two adults, especially taller paddlers, the cockpit feels cramped. Legroom is limited and the lack of footrests makes it harder to paddle efficiently. We found it fine for about two to three hours, but anything longer left us wishing for more room. If you plan to paddle tandem often, the larger 2–3-person version is a better choice.

Overall - Our take is that the Tribord 2-Person 100+ (Itiwit Kayak X100) is best for beginners or occasional paddlers who want an easy, no-fuss inflatable for calm water. It’s very stable, sets up quickly and packs down neatly, which ticks a lot of boxes. It’s not built for speed and space is limited when used as a true two-person kayak. If you’re mainly paddling solo or sharing it occasionally with a partner, it offers good value for money. If you’re looking for comfort on longer tandem trips, though, stepping up to the bigger model would make more sense.
